Common Questions

Crushed Limestone FAQ — Common Questions From Texas Contractors

What size do I need for road base?

Type A Flex Base is the standard for roads, parking lots, and commercial pads in Texas. For driveways, ¾” Down is common. Not sure — call us and we’ll match the right spec to your project.

Do you carry TxDOT-spec limestone?

Yes. Our Type A Flex Base meets TxDOT Item 247 Type A, Grade 1 and Grade 2. Gradation reports available on request for state and county road projects across Central Texas.

Limestone vs. crushed concrete — which is better?

For TxDOT-spec road base and projects requiring documented single-source aggregate — limestone. For general base work where cost savings matter — crushed concrete at 20–30% less. We carry both. Ask us to quote them side by side.

What size for drainage applications?

¾” #4 Type C is the standard for French drains, retaining wall backfill, and pipe bedding. The clean-crushed size allows water to flow freely without clogging.

Minimum Order for Crushed Limestone Delivery
